Burr’s Hill Park is a place in Warren shaped by both industry and deep Native history. Purchased in 1854 by the Providence, Warren, and Bristol Railroad and later used for gravel and sand extraction, the land became town property in 1921. An archaeological dig in 1913 confirmed its long use as a Pokanoket burial ground, and the site remains closely tied to that history today. A stone memorial to Pokanoket leader Massasoit Osamequin stands here, marking the park as a place of remembrance and reflection.
