Kickemuit Cemetery

Serpentine Road, Warren, RI 02885, USA

Kickemuit Cemetery is a historic Warren landmark on Serpentine Road and the town’s oldest non-family cemetery. Its earliest gravestone dates to 1697 and marks the burial of John Luther, who lived through King Philip’s War. The grounds also hold at least three other veterans of that conflict, along with Rhode Island Governor Josias Lyndon and hundreds of other residents. Some gravestones have recently been cleaned and reset through a project funded by the Warren Heritage Foundation, helping preserve this important piece of local history.
